Our Model S P100D rebuild project, part 1: the car has arrived

Our P100D has arrived. We are about to start two rebuild projects, and this is the first.
We recently picked up this Tesla Model S P100D at auction, and it was delivered today.
Why a P100D
The Model S P100D is the fastest right-hand-drive Tesla ever built. When this one came up at auction, we simply had to bid on it.
What this series is about
The car is lightly damaged, and it will become a full rebuild project. We will share the process step by step, to show what it actually takes to rebuild a damaged Tesla properly: no shortcuts and no guesswork.
Rebuilding an electric car well is not just a case of bolting on new panels. The high-voltage system, the sensors and cameras, and the car's many control modules all need checking and setting up correctly before it is safe to drive.
What is coming next
Over the coming entries in this diary, we will cover:
- initial assessment and diagnostics: finding out exactly what is damaged before ordering a single part
- strip-down and damage analysis
- structural and body repairs, in our own bodyshop
- systems calibration and Tesla Toolbox work
- final checks and road-ready validation
This series is about real-world Tesla repair, not just swapping parts.
Follow along
New updates will appear here in the Workshop Diary, and on our Facebook page. If you have a damaged Tesla of your own and want an honest assessment, send us a message.
