Tesla air conditioning and thermal system repair in Surrey
On a Tesla, the air conditioning does far more than cool the cabin. It is part of the thermal management system that looks after the battery and drive unit, so a weak AC can be the first sign of a bigger problem.

Signs of a thermal system problem
- air conditioning that is weak, or gets weaker again soon after a regas
- ‘Air Conditioning Unavailable’ or other climate warnings
- radiator shutter alerts
- heating that does not work properly in winter
- slower charging than usual, especially in hot or cold weather
Why a regas is never the whole answer
If the system has lost refrigerant, it has a leak. Recharging it may bring the cold air back for a while, but the leak is still there. We diagnose the system first and find the leak before carrying out the repair and regas.
We test every AC system under pressure. On one Model S P100D, a high-pressure nitrogen test found leaks that a vacuum test had missed, despite a recent regas elsewhere. The full overhaul put it right properly.
Wider thermal management
We also diagnose the wider thermal system that keeps the cabin, battery and drive unit at the right temperature, including:
- Heat pumps: on a Model 3, a failed heat pump compressor had contaminated the whole refrigerant system, which is why early diagnosis matters.
- Pipes and radiators: on a Model X, we found a corroded rear AC pipe and a radiator shutter broken by road debris.
- Heaters: a Model 3 with a failed PTC heater was repaired before it became an isolation fault.
Year-round, not just summer
Thermal management matters in winter as much as in summer, because the same system warms the battery for charging and driving. If anything about your Tesla's climate or charging feels different, it is worth having it checked before a small leak or a sticking valve becomes an expensive repair.
